We are providing this statement to our customers who would like to know the status of SNS products before upgrading a workstation to OS X 10.11 El Capitan.
We have been testing developer previews of El Capitan with our products, and will continue to do so as Apple releases new builds.
The scheduled date to release OS X 10.11 El Capitan is September 30.
Prior to upgrading, you should also verify that your other software and hardware products are compatible with El Capitan. (But then, if you're reading this statement you probably already know this, and you know that a backup is also recommended!!)
The following product statements cover whether or not something major is affected simply by the process of upgrading to El Capitan. We will update this status statement when any new information is confirmed...
globalSAN iSCSI Initiator
Version 5.2 and prior versions are not compatible with El Capitan.
Please contact our support team if you would like a preview build of globalSAN that can be installed and tested with a preview build of El Capitan.
October 8 update:
v.5.3.0.518 update notification was pushed to all v.5.x users.
October 1 update:
We will be pushing an update of v.5.3 soon to all existing v.5.x users, but you can now download it here if you prefer to get the preview.
September 28 update:
The globalSAN v.5.3 preview has been provided to a large testing group, and feedback is excellent. We are tracking an unconfirmed issue with Drobo devices — this may be an isolated report, which may or may not be caused by the globalSAN initiator.
We anticipate pushing an update to all existing v.5.x users within a few days of El Capitan's official public release.
Xtarget
Version 5.2 and prior versions are not compatible with El Capitan.
Xtarget is not yet compatible with El Capitan. A preview build is not yet available.
Early preview builds of El Capitan contained a bug that interfered with Xtarget's ability to re-share Fibre Channel devices. Apple corrected this bug in later builds. Version 5.3 of Xtarget is compatible with El Capitan.

SANmp and iSANmp
Known issues with all public versions/builds due to the Aladdin/Safenet HASP drivers. If you are using SANmp in a mode that does not require a HASP/dongle, please contact our support team: We can provide you with a preview build of SANmp that can be used for testing with OS X El Capitan.
November 16 update:
SANmp/iSANmp v.4.2 (El Capitan compatible) released today.
September 30 update:
It appears updated HASP drivers have been provided in the GM build. We are continuing to test.
EVO Mount Utility
This application was shipped with some EVO v.4.x systems; it is now deprecated and superseded by ShareBrowser. This utility will not be supported with El Capitan.
ShareBrowser Desktop Client
Public versions/builds of ShareBrowser up to and including v.4.2 are not fully compatible with El Capitan. A preview version is available, with known issues for Avid compatibility (see September 28 update). Please contact our support team if you would like to test a preview of ShareBrowser with El Capitan.
September 28 update:
Avid compatibility can be restored by temporarily disabling El Capitan's new System Integrity Protection (SIP, aka "Rootless") feature during installation of the ShareBrowser preview for El Capitan. SIP can be re-enabled on your OS X system after installation of ShareBrowser.
Disabling SIP for ShareBrowser Installation (Login required)
EVO Shared Media Storage System
There are many different methods to connect a workstation to EVO, and some of these methods, such as Fibre Channel and 10GbE, may require a third-party piece of hardware or software. Also, upgrading has the ability to affect Ethernet and/or Fibre Channel performance of your workstation. Therefore...
- Backup your OS X system before upgrading!
- Review the list above to check the status of other SNS products you may be using with your EVO.
- If you are connecting directly from your workstation's built-in GbE port, then basic connectivity can be expected.
- If you are using any other NIC, Fibre Channel HBA, iSCSI initiator, or Thunderbolt adapter or chassis, specific video drivers or capture cards, etc., please confirm with the manufacturer of that product to verify El Capitan-compliance with those products.
- If you are using any business-critical application (which is 99.9% of EVO customers!) or similarly-critical drivers, please confirm with the manufacturer of that product to verify that their products are El Capitan-compliant.
