It's likely that when you receive an EVO, the ShareBrowser database is already being backed up.
This can be seen in the "Component databases" section on the OS Data page.
You can get here from the life raft icon in the top right of your EVO UI, or at http://evoip/#/support/os-data .
This usually ships set to the "sys-management" share, but can be set to any share on the EVO.
Here you can download a backup of the current database, upload a backup, or change your settings:
It's recommended, that you don't delete backups sooner than the default (every 4 weeks).
Keep in mind, that if you set this to never delete backups, someone may need to manually remove them at some point to make room on the EVO.
The following instructions are for EVO versions prior to version 7:
The ShareBrowser database can be backed up by logging into your EVO's web GUI. Once you're logged into the EVO where ShareBrowser is hosted, follow these steps:
On demand backup, for EVO v.5.6 and v.5.7
- Use menu path System > Advanced
- Click the "Download database" link from the ShareBrowser Server Database section.
- The backup file will be downloaded to your local computer
Scheduled and on-demand backups, for EVO v.5.8 and later
- Click the "Download" button from the ShareBrowser Server Database section.
- The backup file will be downloaded to your local computer
In the EVO Web GUI, navigate the menu path on the left to:
ShareBrowser Server > Administration
EVO v.5.8+ will warn you (by way of a red banner header at the top of the GUI) if a scheduled backup of your ShareBrowser Database is not configured.
To configure scheduled backups to happen automatically:
- Click the "Enabled" checkbox under the section heading
- Configure the schedule of the backup
- Configure the deletion of the backups
- Choose the share and path destination on an EVO NAS share for the backups to be stored (some users configure a specific share on EVO for this purpose as illustrated in the screenshot below).
- Click the "Save" button
To perform an on-demand backup of the ShareBrowser Server Database, scroll down past the schedules section to ShareBrowser Server Database Import & Export. Simply click the "Download" button to download a backup up copy of the database.
This section is also used for Importing a ShareBrowser Server Database from a backup copy, for which there are three options:
1. The Upload File section is limited to smaller database instances.
2. Use Restore Location will look at the share and path previously defined for scheduled database backups.
3. The Upg_Inbox can be used to upload ShareBrowser Server Database backup copy stored on external media. You will need to enable EVO's Upgrade Inbox share in the EVO Web UI under System > Upgrade, assign permission to a user, then mount the share and copy over the backup file.
Simply choose the desired method above, then click the "Restore" button.
